Bringing Advanced Imaging to the Bedside
When patients are sick, injured, or vulnerable, moving them can be painful, risky — and sometimes unsafe. A new portable X-ray machine will allow us to bring high-quality imaging directly to the patient, wherever they are in our facility.
Our current portable unit was purchased around 2014. Most radiology equipment has an average life expectancy of 10 years, and in the twelve years since installation, imaging technology has advanced significantly. Today’s portable systems are smaller, more maneuverable, and more user-friendly. They allow our radiology technologists to position patients more efficiently and capture clearer, higher-resolution images.
Clearer images mean faster, more accurate interpretations by our radiologist — and quicker treatment decisions for our patients.
Why a Portable X-Ray Matters
A portable X-ray machine is not simply convenient — it is essential to patient safety and quality care.
It allows us to serve:
Long-Term Care Residents
For patients who are bedridden or require mechanical lifts to transfer from bed to chair, transport to the radiology department can be physically demanding and uncomfortable. Bedside imaging protects their comfort and dignity.
Emergency Room Patients with Broken Bones
Patients with fractures often require initial imaging and post-reduction X-rays to confirm alignment. Portable imaging minimizes repeated movement and reduces pain during care.
Chest Pain Patients
When a patient presents with chest pain, limiting movement is critical. Bedside imaging reduces exertion and risk.
Suspected Hip or Pelvic Fractures
Even small movements can cause severe pain or worsen injury. Portable X-ray allows safe imaging without unnecessary repositioning.
Patients with Knee Injuries
If a patient cannot stand safely due to injury, bedside imaging allows proper evaluation without compromising safety.
Trauma Patients
In emergency situations, time matters. Portable imaging supports rapid decision-making at the bedside.
Patients Experiencing Dizziness or Lightheadedness
Transporting these patients can increase the risk of fainting or falls. Bringing imaging to them enhances safety.
An Investment in Safety, Dignity, and Quality
Replacing our aging portable X-ray machine is more than a technology upgrade. It is an investment in safer care, faster answers, and improved outcomes for the patients who rely on us — especially those who are too sick or injured to be moved.
Your support helps ensure we can continue delivering advanced imaging with compassion, efficiency, and excellence — right at the bedside, where it’s needed most.
