Sheridan Memorial Sleep Studies

Diagnosis of any sleep disorder begins with your healthcare provider. Through a physical examination and reviewing the patient's medical history your provider may determine you have a disorder and further testing may be needed. If further diagnostic work-up is required, a sleep study may be conducted locally, at Sheridan Memorial Hospital through Winmar Diagnostics.

Winmar Diagnostics, out of Fargo, North Dakota, specializes in ambulatory and inpatient sleep disorder testing. Sheirdan Memorial works closely with Winmar Diagnostics to provide patients with diagnostic and therapeutic evaluations necessary for treatment of sleep breathing disorders.

Sleep studies conducted at Sheridan Memorial Hospital require you to check in for sleep study. Please report to the Hospital Desk and they will assign you to a room and get you set up for the study.

Sleep studies allow providers to look at a patient's sleep patterns and note sleep-related problems that occur during sleep that many times patients do not know are occuring. Polysomnogram (Sleep Study) results are used to help diagnose:

Sleep-related breathing disorders, such as sleep apnea
Sleep-related seizure disorders
Sleep-related movement disorders, such as periodic limb movement disorder

Sleep disorders that cause extreme daytime tiredness, such as narcolepsy.
Your sleep study results may include information about sleep and awake times, sleep stages, abnormal breathing, the amount of oxygen in your blood as well as any movement movement during sleep.

If you have sleep apnea, your provider will use the Sleep Study prescribe a CPAP (continuous positive airway pressure) machine. Sheridan Memorial can help you with your CPAP and other equipment through their Durable Medical Equipment and Home Oxygen Departments.
